What a Lifetime License Means — and What It Doesn't

A one-time QuickBooks Desktop 2024 license never expires. Intuit's connected services for that release end 31 May 2027. Both are true — here is the difference.

Frequently asked questions

Does a lifetime QuickBooks Desktop license expire?

No. The licence has no end date and there is no renewal. The software keeps running on your computer whether or not you ever pay again.

Does 'lifetime' include upgrades to newer versions?

No. You own QuickBooks Desktop 2024. Future releases are separate products and are not included.

What happens on 31 May 2027?

Intuit ends the connected services for the 2024 release: Desktop Payroll, online bank feeds, QuickBooks Payments, live Intuit support, and security updates for that version. The software itself keeps working, and so does your company file.

Will I lose my data after that date?

No. Your company file is a file on your own computer. It is not stored with us or with Intuit, and nothing about it changes on that date.

Should I still buy a 2024 license?

Yes if you keep your books locally and do not depend on Intuit payroll or bank feeds. No if those services need to keep running past May 2027 — in that case a 2024 licence is the wrong purchase, whoever sells it to you.
